What are the types of Long Beach rat snap traps?

Having a California rat in your house is not only annoying, it is also bad for your health. Rats carry diseases than they spread to humans. If you suspect that there might be a rat living in your house, you have two options. You can try to catch it and release it outside or you can catch it in a snap trap. There are three major types of snap traps.

• Wooden trap
This wooden trap is the most well-known. It has been around for decades and most people have seen it at least once. You place the bait on a spring-loaded platform and as soon as the Long Beach rat eats it, the trap closes on its neck. The only problem is that if you leave it within reach of pets or children they can easily get their fingers stuck in it. It also doesn’t always lead to death. This means that you will then have an injured rat that you need to dispose of. Because it is reusable or disposable, you can throw it in the trash with the rat still in it. There is no need to remove it. It is inexpensive and freely available.

• Plastic trap
The plastic trap is an upgraded version of the older wooden trap. As it is inexpensive, it is also disposable but can be reused if so desired. The powerful bar slams down on the California rat and breaks its neck. You can use it inside as well as outside but it needs to be carefully monitored if it is being used around children or small animals.

• Electronic trap
This is a more humane upgrade from the previous traps. A high voltage shock kills the Long Beach rat. This means that there are no chances of the animal suffering like with the older devices. A light will indicate when the rat has been killed. The rat needs to enter the device in order to be shocked. This means that it will be hidden, there won’t be a dead rodent on display in your home. As it needs a source of electricity, it can only be used inside. It is safe to use around children and animals. You also won’t have to touch the dead rodent. You just tip it into the trash.

• Live trap
This trap is the safest to use in areas where there are pets or children. You purchase the small cage and simply bait it yourself. As soon as the rat enters the door will close and it will be trapped inside. You can then relocate it away from your property.
